How did they start?

According to Britannica, Paleontologists and archaeologists have determined that all canids share one common ancestor: the Miacis- a small weasel-like mammal that lived in parts of Asia about 60 million years ago. This little animal is the genus that later became the canines we know today, being dogs, jackals, wolves, and foxes. 30-40 million years ago is when the Miacis evolved into dogs as an animal that was longer than it was tall. The domestication of these beloved canines began 14 to 29 thousand years ago! Dogs and wild wolves would breed with each other as we humans would domesticate them, creating the different breeds we have today! They became very important to humans and would help them hunt for food, as well as provide companionship.
